Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
How are the homeboats transported?
The boats are transported in one piece, which is not an easy task considering its size, so only professionals specialised for such transport can do it. The buyers can arrange it themselves, but Affroni is happy to help as well, as we have the most experience in this specific field.
How soon can I get my homeboat from the time of purchase?
This depends on various factors, like how many boats there are on the waiting list before you, if you have any special requirements (different materials extra equipment, etc.) Generally the delivery time is between 1-2 months.
How can I register my boat?
It can be registered either as a boat or as a floating structure. For the boat registration, we will equip the homeboats with engines (diesel or electrical) and the necessary equipment as the seering wheel and throttel. For the floating structure the buyer will need all the necessary documentation and technical data for the specific place where you would like to place the boat. The registration process can vary from country to country, even from place to place, so it is necessary to check for the specific local regulations.
Do I need any special licence to sail with the boat?
No, you do not need anything special, if the boat is registered as a boat, a small motorboat licence is enough to drive the boat. Nevertheless, because it is a big structure, we do not advice unexperienced sailors to drive the homeboat. If thehomeboat is registered as a floating structure, it can not move, so anyone can stay on it.
How sensitive is the houseboat to the waves?
The superstructure of the houseboat is mounted on a dozen, independently moving tank-balloons that, when moved separately, absorb the force of the waves. Smaller waves of 20-30cm are almost imperceptible in the boat, only larger waves of 50-70cm are able to tilt the hull a bit. Even then, however, we should not expect everything to be overturned on the ship, or we would be more seriously sea sick from it.
Can I sail with the homeboat?
If the boat is equipped with a small engine and steering gear, then yes, it can be moved on the water to some level. It is important to stress, however, that the houseboat is not used for everyday navigation, especially not in river water. It is possible to install a stronger motor, with which everyday, safe relocation is possible in stagnant water.
Can I use my homeboat all year round?
All the boats are equipped with a heater-cooler AC, which makes it habitable basically the whole year, however – not surprisingly – it is most comfortable from spring to autumn.
Do I have to take my houseboat out of the water in the winter?
No, the tank-balloons at the bottom of the boat don’t freeze, so you don’t have to lift the boat to dry docks in the winter.
Where can I place my homeboat?
Like any ship, wherever it can be safely anchored. It is possible in any port that accommodates a ship of this size, but of course in a river bay or lake shore. In the case of the latter, permission must be sought from the local authorities, and we will be happy to help or explain the necessary steps if required.
Can I place my homeboat on the Adriatic sea?
Yes, and we can help you in the following ports: Portoroz (Slovenia), Pula-Veruda (Croatia), Punat (Croatia), Medulin (Croatia), Portoverde-Rimini (Italy).
What is the warranty for my homeboat?
The warranty is generally 2 years for ships in the EU.
Can I take out insurance for my boat?
Yes, you can take out insurance with several insurance companies, we can help with that.
